The War between Russia and Ukraine

The Russo-Ukraine War is an ongoing armed conflict that began in February 2014, primarily involving Russia and pro-Russian forces on one hand, and Ukraine on the other. The conflict initially centered on the status of Crimea and the parts of the Donbas, which are internationally recognized as a part of Ukraine.

Russia invades Ukraine in which Russian President Vladimir Putin calls a “special military operation” declaring war. Putin threatened any foreign country attempting to interfere with "consequences you have never seen." Donetsk and Luhansk the heart of Ukraine had been occupied by Russian Troops. With up to 2,00,000 Russian troops poised to invade Ukraine, President Vladimir Putin said on February 21st Russia would immediately recognize the independence of break away regions in the east of the country. Putin launched a military operation against Ukraine on February 24. The explosions were heard across the country on Ukraine. Missiles have struck across the country and troops have poured in from the north, east and south. Russia Say "First Day Successful" after declaring War On Ukraine.

Russia launched a wide-ranging attack on the Ukraine on February 25th, hitting cities and bases with airstrikes or shelling, as civilians piled into trains and cars to flee.

Main reason behind the conflict between Russia and Ukraine:

Ukraine has been wanting to be a part of NATO ( North Atlantic Treaty organization ) for more than a decade, which had been seen as a catalyst for the Russian invasion.

NATO is an intergovernmental military alliance between 28 European countries and 2 North American countries, which main task is to protect and defend all Allies. It had been established to guarantee the freedom and security of its members through political and military means.

Can NATO membership protect Ukraine:

The only thing that would ensure Ukraine's Sovereignty is that the country be brought into NATO. That is what President Putin fears the most. If Ukraine was a member of NATO, Russia wouldn't declare a war, as Russia had to fight against NATO i.e. 30 nations, which wont be possible for Russia. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy begged to be a member. Apparently, Ukraine was not allowed to become a NATO member because the other nations did not want to go to war to maintain Ukraine's right to be a democratic country.

Why Russia want Ukraine not to join NATO?

Russia fears if Ukraine joins NATO, forces of NATO countries will be at its borders. After that, Russia will be totally circled which is not acceptable to Putin. Russia wants NATO to stop its expansion in East Europe. Russia if very much frightened of the Soviet attack, as it will be completely circled with the Soviet nations, which has formed a organization, NATO.
