Individual Freedom Vs. Societal Goals:
In any society there is a natural tension between the interest of individuals and the interest of the society as a whole. There is a conflict between what individuals want and what serves their intrests and what is needed for the welfare, safety and security of the entire society. Government needs to moderate that conflict with the establishment of Law and Ethics.
Individual freedom is the necessity of every human and must be utilised in the best way in order to extract maximum benefits. Individual freedom is the absence of restraint on our ability to thinks and act for ourselves. It is the human right to believe, express beliefs, and act according to the dicates of an individuals conscience. One opinion in that people must not interfere with a perskns individual liberty and freedom under their behaviour violates the spirt of the government constitution. Society places restriction on freedom in order to curb the misure of freedom and to prevent it from being used in wrong way.
Social goals direct towards "group- think". The idea of social goals should do their part to improve humanity, such as reducing world hunger and protecting the environment. Social goals are those goals which ultimately gets you involved with some social work. It's also like what are you contributing to the community.
Individuals freedom contrasting with societal goals creates dilemma, a confusion of which is right and wrong. Group living always involve a compromise between individual freedom and societal goals. This dilemma have long been dealt with the study of Ethics. The study of Ethics is the study of "how to live in group".
Hence, the Laws and Ethics bind the people, ensures the individual freedom being preserved and sloves the conflict between the individual freedom and the social goals.
